There is so much information in this article on the failings of renewable energy in the UK, that I have put a permanent link to it on the links list on the right side of the blog. It is a long article, but much of it is readable to the informed layman. It really hammers home the futility of relying on renewable energy to be the main source to power the grid. Not only that, but it won't even save CO2 emissions. A complete lose-lose policy.
